I want to be an artist when I was a child, but that dream is never come true thus I understand I cannot draw well. Time by time I recognize that almost of masterpieces are usually bought by collectors with a lot of money if only the artists pass away. Therefore, I think how to draw a line between creating beauty values and satisfying passion and design is all I need. As a designer, I not only can transfer customer’s wants into something useful and practical to human, but I also participate in creative process.
My perspective about the difference between artists and designers that is human centered. When I am working, I always concentrate on people aspects such as psychology, user goals, user frustrations and their feelings so that I can easily empathize with the end user. The more deeply I discover about user behaviors, the more interesting I realize just user is not enough. My design must be more accessible and equity in order that everyone can use it regardless their socioecomic backgrounds or abilities.
There are two of many skills I have been learning in the university that help me a lot: critical thinking and independent study. The way we brainstorm a solution is more important than mastering in tools due to efficiency final outcome. You can take a few months to master in tools, nevertheless thoughts take a lot of years to be logical and suitable. In addition, my skills are compatible with design thinking which can user in any phases. User research is applied not only in the empathize stage by qualitative and quantitative methods but also whole the process while in the ideate and define step need to analyze about user demographic, personas, empathy map and journey map. The team approach to prototype is the time for creating website and application screen interface and manage a design system.
With these skills, I desire to have a position in team as Visual Designer, UI Designer, Interaction Designer or UX Researcher, UX Writer since my graphic design is sector in college. A digital product is never perfection since user habits develop everyday so there is requirement in improve application or website to increase access times and keep customers using our product as long as possible.
